Surya Namaskar is one of the most wonderful and simple techniques of losing weight. It makes the body flexible, fit, and strong. Helps in boosting metabolism and in building lean muscles.

I have lost around 26 kgs of my weight and I am very regular with surya namaskar. I always do this early morning but you can do this anytime. I started with the count of five and now I do fifty surya namaskar daily or six days a week. When you start this initially you will find it a little difficult but slowly it will bend or you will get used to of doing this. Believe me I don’t see any exercise/asana so complete than this.

What Is Surya Namaskar?

Surya Namaskar is also known as Sun Salutation in English. It is a common sequence of 12 body postures. Each of these asanas is performed by stretching first, the right side of the body, followed by the left side. These asanas have good impact on the throat, chest, heart, stomach, intestine and legs. Sun Salutation or Surya Namaskar is a complete body workout in itself.

Surya Namaskar to Lose Weight?

  • There are twelve poses of surya namaskar in total and you need to perform them with precision. Perform them in order and in right way with proper stretches.
  • You should perform the steps at a slow and steady pace. You can increase the pace but make sure to follow the steps. In fact a good pace will shed more weight and  once you have built enough strength, increase the number of rounds you do.

Note: Studies have shown that one minute of Sun Salutation helps you burn 3.79 calories. Through research it has been shown that one full round of Surya Namaskar takes approximately 3 minutes and 40 seconds to complete. Therefore the calories burnt in 1 surya namaskar can be up to 13.91 calories. This result can, however, vary from person to person, depending on his respective body weight and other attributes.

Sounds interesting that a bollywood star lost so much of weight and that too so fast and you after trying so hard had not lost a single kg. Hold on, don’t go by what you hear and what they do.

How do I #getbacktoshape post pregnancy!

I lost some ten kgs in about 3 months just by following few diet tips and floor exercises at home. Being a mom it’s often tough to do things for self and leave your baby and go to gym unless you have a very strong support system. Unfortunately I have no support system which will allow me to leave my baby and get out to the gym, so I started doing my own exercises and managing my diet.

Five point which will help you in weight loss:

  • Drink water not caffeine.
  • Drink your food, yes I said it right. When you add extra water to your soup or milk it will not only full your stomach but will help you in not taking those extra calories.
  • Eat a good breakfast. Eating what you like in your breakfast will make your day energetic and full of happiness but if possible avoid oily and sugary stuff.
  • Do some 30-40 mins of floor exercise at home and get out with your baby for morning and evening walk.
  • Do your dinner before sunset. Yes and it helps a lot to get #backtoshape.

Follow this routine for about a month and then increase your exercise time slowly.
