Why ME time is important?

Whenever I think of ME word now, I feel I don’t get it enough. Being a full-time mom has just taken away this privilege from me. Initially, I thought its just a phase and this ME word is too hyped I will not need it but as the time has passed I have understood the importance of it. I can tell you this is neither a hyped word nor an underserving word. We as a mom or any individual need this space.

Why is “ME” so important according to me?

  • A healthy mind and a strong body are very much required to take care of your child. If I am healthy and fine then only I will be able to look upon my kid in a proper manner. This ME time gives me space for that, I get time for exercise and rewind myself to take responsibility for the full day.
  • I get time to think about something different other than my child and thus my mind is not occupied with the same thought around the day.
  • Being a human I too need a change and do something which I love too(I know I love my kid and so do we all) some hobby or something which makes us happy. We should not ignore that and it’s the most important thing to do. Always remember happiness attracts happiness!
  • Being a mom is a journey and your responsibility is going to increase as your baby grows, so to enjoy the journey and your responsibilities it is very much required to have some time only for self and do the things which makes you happy.
  • A break is very much important from our regular work and this makes ME time very much important for everyone.

If you are not having some ME time or a break from your daily routine then think about it!

Belly fat, melt it like ice cream!

Belly fat is tough to go and sometimes makes us feel that it will never go. I have a body who gains most on my belly. After my pregnancy, it was too tough for me to move with a heavy body and belly which was making me so much uncomfortable. I decided to get my belly on track and lose my belly fat. Few tips which helped me in making this happen, I would like to share with you all:

Belly Fat

  1. I stopped taking sugar in my tea. This saved lots of calories for me. Although I do eat cakes and sweets in a measured quantity and in a moderate manner.
  2. I started drinking almost 5 glasses of water and some days it might go up to 8 glasses. I love to have warm water and it too helps in digestion.
  3. I decided not to eat things I don’t like and in place save some calories for the food I love to eat.
  4. I make sure I drink some protein shake and eat 4 – 5 egg whites in a day. I am on a vegetarian diet for 3 days a week and on those days I eat only boiled vegetables and fruits.
  5. I don’t eat grain or sweet at dinner or after 6 pm. I try to have a cup of warm milk before bed.
  6. I exercise or walk for about 1 hour 6 days a week.

I see many blogs and apps suggesting only food cut for weight loss and they don’t suggest any form of exercise. Which is totally wrong.  A healthy weight loss should include exercise and food control.

Although I have not achieved my dream tummy, I am on my way to achieving it. Always remember it takes time for belly fat to go but if you follow the plan and stick to it will go in some time.

My baby is a Fussy Eater!

As a mom, I am very worried about what my son is eating as he often rejects almost all the good and beneficial health food. His eating habits make me tired as I keep running after him with the bowl. Is this the right way to feed him or let me put it in a simple form ‘is the way I am feeding him is right?’. The answer is straight ‘No’.

Instead of running after your kid and forcing them to eat, with few of the tricks we can make them eat what we want! I have few of the tricks which keep helping me in feeding with less effort:

  • I pretend to eat instead of directly feeding him. I don’t offer him unless he asks for.
  • I have kept bowls of similar colors, and I too eat in the same bowl making him feel he is not eating anything different.
  • I make him sit on the dining table and allow him to eat on his own.
  • I combine fruits and vegetables in his favourite dishes or sometimes I add them in between of his favourite food.
  • I don’t keep him feeding for the whole day. I have made a timetable and based on that I serve him food.
  • I have made eating healthy a lifestyle, so we all as a family hardly eats anything which is bad for the health and thus if my toddler wants to eat from my plate I don’t mind passing it to him.
  • Try not to show them mobile or videos to make them eat, it may look easy at first to feed with mobile but not good for their eyes and mental growth.
  • Try to show them outside or engage them in a conversation while feeding, this too will help in mental and emotional growth.

With few changes to how we feed them, they eat something. As a mom or parent, you will be never satisfied with the nutrition your toddler is getting in their food but leaving them to eat on their own is the success to feed a fussy eater.

Your health and a special need kid.

I know some families who are having special need kids and being very close to them make me feel little worried about their health both physical and mental. Whenever I raise this concern to them they make me shut saying they have much more important work to do then their health. But recently I meet a lady in her late 50’s during my morning run and started talking during the conversation I got to know she is having a special kid and raising him all alone.

Few points which I understood and would like to raise here so that people don’t do the same mistake. Believe me, learning from others mistake is the most important and reliable way of making life easy when it doesn’t look like one. Take good care of your mind and body. Do whatever makes you feel happy and light.

  1. She is raising her kid alone. Don’t fight with your partner. Together you can handle the situation much better. With a special kid, I have seen partners fighting and blaming each other. Don’t do that, this cant be changed but you guys can make life beautiful by being together.
  2. Don’t be alone. Take help of the community and family. Don’t hesitate in asking help.
  3. Think positive. Yes, the most important thing is to think positive and healthy. Thinking has a great power and my experience says positive thinking has the power of the nuclear bomb. If you think positive you are going to win.
  4. Exercise daily. Yes, take good care of yourself. Take out one or half hour for yourself. Get out in the open air and breath. You have to be healthy so that you can focus on your kid’s health.
  5. Don’t compare. Yes, don’t compare your kid with others. We all know every kid is different but then too we do the mistake of comparing them. This will make you feel depressed.
  6. Meditate. Meditation has some great powers hidden inside it. Meditation will not only make you feel light but it will fill you with some magical positive energy.

Weight loss- A commoner way to think!

Not being a celebrity and having limited access to everything can’t come in between you and your health. There are so many ways to we can work so that our body became strong and healthy. I understand that we commoners are busy with our daily life so much that we don’t have time for our health but if we take out 30 mins from our daily busy life and we will be much more happy and healthy.

What we should do to make yourself think exercise is important for our health?

  1. Health is more valuable than money. You cant buy it so work for it. If you don’t work on your health thinking that it is not important and you don’t have time. Then you have to spend much more time and money visiting doctors. So change your mindset and understand “health is wealth.”
  2. If you are healthy and strong you can do more work. Yes, being healthy in a way will help you to work more and earn more.
  3. You look younger and fit if you follow a regular exercise plan.
  4. As time is changing we are not getting proper food which results in many deficiencies in our body but if we take care of our body and understand our physical body needs we can save much more pain which our body will go through.
  5. A fit body and soul is a healthy place and all good things will want to stay there. So start today, start now and take care of your health and mind.

There are many reasons you can ignore your health but a single reason to take care of your health will solve many problems. So don’t think twice but start from today!

Why does I often fail in dieting?

I have lost around 26 kg of my weight but before I got into the flow of exercise and weight loss I have failed many times. I don’t remember how many times but what made me finally lose weight was perseverance and dedication. I always knew I will make it work but after how many times I have to restart I never knew that. I am listing few reasons from my experience which might help you too!

  1.  I was too tired as my baby use to get up very frequently during the night. Being a new mom I was unknown about how to handle an infant and even small problems use to give me sleepless nights. As a result weight loss and exercise never seemed that important to me. So the lesson learned here is “Unless you find it important you cannot do it”.
  2. The baby was/is the only important and other things took a back seat. Yes, the baby is important and so does you are. Never underplay yourself. Your health is important and so you need to give time to yourself.
  3. I was too scared as I had gained around 30 kg of weight during my pregnancy and so from where to start was the biggest question. I failed many a time thinking I can’t do it but then I got the secret which is “start small”.
  4. It’s a long game and if you are thinking you can do this in a day or two, you are going to fail. Have a plan of how much weight you should lose and what is your lifestyle? So always “Plan and Execute”.
  5. Don’t be very harsh on yourself. If you follow a very strict plan you may not execute it for long so always have a plan which you can follow for a minimum of 12 weeks.
  6. Mix your workouts and make them fun. If you are planning only to diet and not following any exercise routine than keeping yourself motivated is going to be tough or rather after a time you will not follow any plan. So to keep yourself motivated and going “Mix your exercise with diet”.

My learning will surely help you to lose weight or start a journey full of health and well-being.
